Project Hail Mary

This is a heartwarming science fiction book based on the savior of humanity from an existential threat by a newly discovered microbe threatening to take the energy away from the sun. On this mission is the main character Ryland Grace, a former high school biology teacher, who during his cryogenic transportation loses all of his memories. All he knows is that he is on a mission to save humanity. He has to discover what this exactly means while slowly regaining his memories along the way. Any more information I would consider a spoiler.

This is definitely my favorite science fiction book I have read so far and it is a contender for my favorite book of all time. It is rather easy on the scientific side and it doesn’t overwhelm you too much so I would recommend this to anyone who even has a vague interest in science fiction novels. It really shows the humanity in people even when there seems like there is no hope left and is rather humorous at times as well.

There was recently also a movie made about this book, which I haven’t seen yet, but regardless the book is definitely worth reading.
